How to Use Law of Attraction to Keep Your Life Light Burning

Do You Leave Your Light On?
by Linda Brett KellWho reading this can remember your Mom’s words in your ear as you left your room saying “did you leave your light on?” Or turn your light off. I admit I am one of those Mom’s and grandmothers. If you aren’t in the room the light needs to be off. Our life light however, is very very different. We need to keep that light on, we need to be a light for others who may have come upon a dark moment. I grew up going to Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, church camps etc. and I have a hunch many of you did also. Those who did surely remember this little chorus:

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let shine, let it shine let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel NO, I’m gonna let it shine.

Ok, I bet some of you are singing it out loud right now.

What does this have to do with Law of Atraction principles?

My take on that question. It has everything to do with LOA.

When we finally get that there is never an on or off switch to LOA, that it’s always burning so to speak. We will want our “life light” to always be attracting beauty, abundance, wellness, joy peace etc.

Say “yes” if that’s the desire for your life.

Together we can have such a positive impact on those around us, and each one of us will light a path of hope for those in our lives who need it. How do we do that, simply stay focused on “what you really want”. Let your thoughts and energy always be there, rather than on what “you don’t want”

Who will join me in “keeping your light on”?

My Journey to Finishing a Half Marathon

My Journey to the Finish Line

What I learned running a Half Marathon

February 24, 2013 my day began at 2:00 a.m. it was the morning of my first ½Marathon.  I decided mid-September that this was something I wanted to accomplish.  The Disney World Princess ½Marathon would be in Feb. so I had plenty of time to train.  I hadn’t run in 40 years, I am 72 years old.  Training began and I ran 3 5K’s placing second in my age group each race.  Overall from first race to the third I had knocked off 7 min. from my overall time.  I was feeling confident.

Then in January my father-in-law passed away, I got the flu and was in bed 8 days, and spent another week trying to gain my strength, meanwhile little or no training.  The day before the race I was at the Emergency Doc’s office diagnosed with a urinary tract infection.  I must admit briefly I thought forget it Linda you can’t do it.  I erased that nasty thought quickly from my mind.

RACE DAY

I started out strong was doing about an 12 min. mile for the first 5 miles.  I ran down Main Street of theMagic Kingdom feeling great. Then at mile 8 the bottom of my left foot really began to hurt.  I thought my sock was wrinkled. I knew if I stopped the Medics, would race over to check on me, so I just kept going.  I prayed, I quoted scripture, I focused on all the body parts that really felt good.  I remembered all the friends and family who had encouraged me and I just kept putting one foot in front of the other, however much more slowly now.   I finished, yes I finished, my timing was awful. I wasn’t the last one across the finished line which made me happy.  It was so emotional I broke out in tears.

                            AFTER THE RACE

My wonderful husband, Bruce greeted me with a kiss and a yellow rose (my favorite). I could barely walk. He insisted I sit down, I took off my shoe and what I thought was a wrinkled sock was a blister that covered all most all of the ball of my foot. He secured a wheelchair to get me to car.

LESSONS LEARNED

1. When you think of quitting, remember why you started.

2. God is always faithful

3. Never ever give up on yourself

4. Work through the pain

5. Celebrate the victory

What’s Your Love Language?

How do each of the Four Communication Styles express their love?

We have all heard the expression opposites attract. Those of you who are married, engaged or have that someone special in your life, I have a hunch would agree. Often when we fall in love it’s with someone who compliments our own personality, traits, and yes communication style. In the beginning its all peace, and love, then after time those “opposite characteristics” may seem a little less lovey.

Why? Communication can break down and you may feel the love of your life falls into one of these catagories:

  1. never listens
  2. hurts your feelings
  3. never sees your point of view
  4. thinks what you say never makes sense.,

OOPS, we have a problem. Especially when our expectations of Expressions of Love are totally different than our partners. So to help you out here are the ways each style express love.

Auditory: Will tell you constantly you are loved, you are beautiful, handsome, you look great, your fabulous etc. etc. etc,

Visual: Give you beautiful cards, beautifully wrapped gifts, leave little love notes on the mirror, on your laptop etc.

Kinesthetic: Hugs, kisses, squeezes, touching, touching and more touching

Digital: They’ll take out the trash, load the dishwasher, wash your car, gifts of service is there way of saying I love you. It’s difficult for this style to express in words how they feel.

What’s in Your Rearview Mirror?

What’s In Your Rear View Mirror?
When driving it is important to occasionally glance in your rear view mirror. If you are like me  and sometime a little heavy on the gas peddle and notice you just saw a Highway Patrol on the side of the road, you are definitely looking in your rear view mirror. You are also praying you slid under his radar. Imagine with me though if when you drove you JUST looked in your rear view mirror. Yikes! You would never see what was ahead of you. Ultimately well I think you can finish that story.

I wonder why in our lives we spend sooooo much time looking back at the past. Remembering how we just slid by a difficult situation. Remembering and focusing on all the negative. Making what WAS your entire focus. It’s important for us to remember that the PAST, YESTERDAY, is over. What we have is what is NOW. We can actually do something about NOW, that’s where changes can be made.

It is the now we ought to be focusing on. Looking at:

  1. The possibilities we have.
  2. Deciding to keep our thoughts on the road ahead.
  3. Now is our moment to shine.
  4. Quit being a REAR VIEW THINKER.
  5. Enjoy your journey

How to Have a Smoother Ride in Life

How to Have a Smoother Ride through Life

All of us enjoy a smooth ride. It may be in our family car, motorcycle, or bike. Whatever the vehicle is, we all want a smooth ride.  Here are some of things to make that possible:

1. ability/belief that you can drive, or ride the vehicle

2. focus on the road ahead

3. avoid the potholes, bumps in the road

4. follow your map or GPS remembering where you want to go

These same things are necessary as we are traveling down life’s road. Let’s take a look at the similarities.

To have a smooth ride in our lives these are some important things to remember:

1. belief in your ability to live a joyful life and have a smooth ride

2. focus on the road ahead, rather than the last trip (mistake) you made

3. avoid the naysayers, negative Ned’s & Nellies in your life

avoid using negative words don’t not and no

4. follow the dreams and goals on your life’s map

Bottom line:  When you feel you are getting off course just like your GPS reminds you : “recalculate”.  How?  by asking yourself this extremely important question:

“what do I really want?”

Stay on the road that leads you in that direction.

Smile as you drive by life is good

Contrast or My Rotten egg salad sandwhich

Contrast observe briefly

Are you still smelling the rotten egg salad sandwich?

How long would you be willing to smell a rotten egg salad sandwich? You first reaction might be “or you nuts Linda, get that out of my face”  Smelling something that bad needs to be done “briefly”.  I often ask clients and myself, why is it we wouldn’t smell a rotten sandwich for any length of time and yet we hold on to

*rotten relationships

*rotten attitudes

*rotten jobs

You get the idea.  This is all about CONTRAST, something we must have in our lives in order to gain clarity on what we really want and desire.  The problem with most people is they  just keep hanging on to the contrast, focusing on it, complaining and whining about it but refuse to ask them self the magic question “what do I want?”   The job, if you will for the contrast in our lives is to observe it briefly. See it, recognize it, and then know that is definitely something on your “don’t want” list.  Amazing fact but ever so true the more you focus on what you don’t want, the more of what you don’t want, shows up in your life. Let’s move toward a solution for this. It’s a clarity through contrast worksheet, which you can download free, on this site.  After you get clear on what it is you really want, then proceed with joy and enthusiasm giving those things your energy, attention and focus.  Question on this, I’m just an e-mail away lbrettkell@ec.rr.com

Law of Attraction New Age or Old Age?

Law of Attraction New Age or Old Age

I find it very interesting  that those who have no idea what law of attraction is immediately discount it  as some wacko New Age “thing”.  I also feel that God, our creator must also be getting a chuckle out of this thought.  He may be thinking “has no one read the scripture?”  Throughout the scripture both old and new testament we find evidence that the law of attraction has existed since the beginning of time. Simply put: you reap what you sow.

We all accept Newton’s theory of the law of gravity. We would also agree that gravity was present in the world prior to Newton’s discovery.

Spiritual leaders throughout the ages have spoken about the power of words, and thoughts and how they impact what we are receiving. Since the beginning of time the idea of reaping and sowing has remained unchanged.

Definition of Law of Attraction: I bring into my  life, whatever I give attention, energy and focus to, whether positive or negative.

There was no New Age guru who came up the law of attraction.  Law of attraction has been here since the beginning ot time.  Writers through out time have been writing about this principle. Old and New Testament speak of the power of our tongue. More recently due to the coverage Oprah gave to Rhonda Byrne author of  “The Secret” LOA  received a lot of attention.  Many people then decided since it was news to them it must be New Age.

I want to encourage  those who believe law of attraction is some type of New Age, mumbo, jumbo to open your mind and reconsider.

I am a Christian and have been for 63 years, yes I am that old, 71 to be exact.  Law of attraction has given me amazing  insight on how much my words affect my thoughts, my thoughts become my feelings  and then I get a result.  When I fail to get the result I’m wanting I take responsibility for that rather than 1. Blaming God or 2. Deciding he is testing/or punishing me. Yes, I said I take responsibility. I know changing my words, changes my thoughts, feelings and results.  God has given us a brain to use; we are not Puppets on a string manipulated by Him. We have free will.

You get what you focus on, make it magnificent.  LOA it’s been here since the beginning of time.  Be a Deliberate Attractor of what you are wanting.

The Secret to Releasing Unwanted Weight

I know this is going to sound so simple, and honestly it is. I have never been grossly over weight, but at 4’10″ 5-10 lbs makes a huge difference. Like many of you reading this that are over that certain age when our metabolism slows down and we aren’t as active as we were ….well it seems more difficult to release those 5-10 lbs.

Note I’m using the word release rather than loose. There is a method to my madness here. When we loose something we generally want to find it again. When we release something we freely let it go. The words we use are extremely important. Now this brings me to the secret. It’s about choosing the words

“I have decided to”  Woman looking in the mirror

That’s right the secret is simply quit using the words trying to. Let me prove my point, before you read further “try” to pick up something that is close by. Did you pick it up? You see you either did or you didn’t. I have found when I decide to do something, it’s done.

When I say I’ll try, well I rarely get the same results.

So now that you have decided to release the weight, you need a plan. What’s the ideal food plan for you? It’s important to select the plan that is right for you. I’m making this a bit easier by asking you to begin clarifying what is the best plan for you. You can get the Clarity through Contrast Sheet for FREE from the worksheets page. Design the plan that is ideal for you. Think back to previous plans and put the things you disliked on the left side of the page. Then right what you do want on the right side.

You get the idea. Really get clear on what is going to work for you, because you have Decided to, and you will succeed. Another HINT: use this affirmation

”I am in the process of releasing all my unwanted weight”

How to Eat An Elephant

It’s simple really, one bite at a time.  Are you like me and sometimes wake up and immediately play in your head everything that must be done that day or even the entire week.  We are defeated and worn out before we began.  We’ve tried to get through a whole day before we had our eyes open fully.  Let me suggest an easier way (and much more fun) to face your day or a given task like elephant eating do it a “bite at a time”.  What I’m saying is deliberately create how you want your day or a seeming difficult task to go.  Start by segmenting into small bits of time what you are wanting.

Ex: 1.  I want a safe and easy flow through traffic from point A to B.  You’ll be amazed at the green lights and easy flow of traffic.

Then focus on the next part of your day, imagine it going just the way you want it to go….deliberately create it.

You’ll be excited to watch your day unfold segment by segment. . It’s so liberating to know that you can control the events of the day by controlling your words and thoughts about that day.  You will find yourself living in joy just as you were meant to live. We can all create what we want in our lives one “bite” at a time.

Linda Thank you so much for the seminar. It was helpful to me to increase my positive thinking which is something I can be lacking. I will be using these tools as I go into the New Year with a whole new attitude. I have started carrying a $100 bill in my purse, and also began carrying cash again. It is nice not to feel so strapped.Thank you for the tip! I also stop and measure where my attitude is taking me.
